Meet Chelsea Driscoll, a 2004 graduate of RTCC/RUHS. Chelsea chose a path that included RTCC's Business Management program, college courses while enrolled in high school, and a nursing degree! Although Chelsea knew she had an interest in the health field she chose RTCC's program in business so she could be exposed to areas she felt were important life skills such as financial management, business writing, customer service and positive communication skills. Chelsea's plan served her well.
During her senior year, Chelsea completed both her program at RTCC and two courses at Vermont Technical College: nutrition and anatomy and physiology. Additionally, she participated in RTCC's Adult Education evening program and earned her Licensed Nurses Assistant certification. After graduation, Chelsea completed her Bachelor’s degree in nursing starting at Castleton State College's pre-nursing program and completing her four-year Bachelor’s program at Norwich University. Chelsea's career in nursing has, to date, included working with the elderly at Rowan Court in Berlin and, for the past three years, in the Surgical Associates Clinic at Gifford Medical Center.
When asked to offer advice to high school students, Chelsea stated that students should consider RTCC to help make them "well rounded." She advised students to "choose a program that you think can fit the career path you want to follow." RTCC students "get a head start and get the information they need to find out what you want to do." And, for Chelsea, she found that the endless possibilities in nursing started at RTCC.
