Senior Project

Congratulations! You are a finally a senior. One of the best parts of this year will be completing your own senior project. You get to pick your own topic and create a final project that is meaningful to you. Your senior project packet (distributed at the Senior breakfast) contains useful information to guide you along the way.

Use this site to explore additional resources to prepare your proposal, paper, and display. Use the calendar to keep track of due dates. If you get stuck, don't hesitate to contact the librarian to put you in the right direction.

The Proposal

The proposal is the first document you need to submit. It needs to contain:

  • a letter of intent
  • an annotated working bibliography
  • a signed mentor statement
  • a signed parent permission form

All of this information can be found in your resource packet.

The Annotated Bibliography

A working annotated bibliography is due with your proposal. A more complete draft is due in November. The annotated bibliography is more than just a list of sources. It provides the reader with important information including a summary and a critical evaluation of the author and the source. After you format your source information using MLA format you will then write the following:

  • one or two sentences that summarize the content / topic of the source.
  • two or more sentences that provide your critical evaluation of the source. You many want to include:
    • a critical evaluation of the author (why is he or she important or credible)
    • the intended audience
    • how this work complements other sources you have found
  • a sentence on why this source is valuable or important to your particular topic

As you begin to collect resources, you will want to keep track of them. Check out the bookmarking tools on the web tools page.
