PROTECTION OF STUDENTS WITH KNOWN
LIFE THREATENING HEALTH CONDITIONS

Statement of Purpose:

Schools must provide students free and appropriate public education in the least restrictive environments. Trained personnel able to respond to a student with a life threatening health condition should be readily available.

Procedures:

1. Each student with a known life threatening health condition will have an Individual Health Care Plan, to be developed by the school nurse in collaboration with the parent/guardian and the health care provider.

2. Appropriate staff will be trained by the school nurse to respond to potential emergency situations related to these conditions, as needed.
