SUMMER JOURNALISM PROGRAM GR 8 - 12

Hi Everyone! It’s Ms. Lary.  I run a summer journalism class. We focused on amazing people and places in our backyard. Some of the highlights included the following:

  1. Visiting the State House: Interview Rep. Jay Hooper, climbing to the top of the gold dome

  2. Becoming a Food Connoisseur at Kuya’s at Main Street

  3. Being Published in the Herald

Then take a look at some of the videos below to learn more about what our summer program is all about.

Assistant Superintendent, Heather Lawler explains how the program got started and what we're doing to make sure we can keep it going into the future.

She share's her thoughts on the program here:

OK, so who's that guy with the big smile and his arms folded?

That's Lance Madzey, RTCC's Digital Film Instructor. He'll tell you a little bit about the summer school program, and why kids are having so much fun!  (But seriously, how do you NOT have fun with a guy who can turn an ordinary day into a feature film?)

In these videos, you can see some of the activities that are taking place. We know it sounds crazy, but this is one school "semester" that nobody wanted to see come to a close!
